The Nicaragua Las Cascadas is the first coffee born of our Farm Friends Partner program. We developed this program as a way to directly connect with coffee growers rather than work through importers. This relationship allows us further insight into the farmer's growing processes, their successes and challenges, and the fair treatment of their employees.

Alan Arnesto, the farm owner, has shared details about his farm below.

The Arnesto family has been growing coffee for more than one hundred years. The first confirmed coffee grower in the Matagalpa region of Nicaragua from my family is my Grandfather Dolores Arnesto who owned the Finca San Jose just a few miles from the city.

Matagalpa is one of the bigger coffee producing regions in Nicaragua due to the elevation and mountainous terrain. This has afforded us a location with microclimates that are perfect for most coffee varietals.

One of the goals of our farm is to help the local workers with their daily lives and the education of their children. To accomplish this, we provide three meals a day to the workers, we pay them above the required salary, and we handle any medical expenses for the farmer and their family.

We recently managed to petition the locality to put electricity on the farm. Next, we will be joining other small producers in the area to pay to improve the roads and trails the locals use to get around.

We started off in 1999 with my family's coffee farm until 2016 when my wife and I bought our own farm a few miles from the family’s farm. The farm had been abandoned for 20 years and had old coffee on it and had mostly been taken over by the jungle.

Since 2016, we have been growing our coffee on our farm which we named Hidden Falls Hollow, or as it was shortened in Spanish, Las Cascadas. We named it because a river runs through it with 7 waterfalls. Most are under 8 ft, but we have one that is 40 ft tall and pours into a bowl-shaped grotto.

We hope you enjoy our Java varietal!

Best coffee ever

I started buying this coffee 2 years ago or so, started drinking some other coffee and went straight back to just Heat coffee. There’s nothing like it out there. The freshness, the flavor, the aromas! My boyfriend and I decided we just cannot accept any other coffee in our home. We buy whole beans and grind them fresh every morning for our pour over. Will forever be a Heat Coffee fan and customer!
